TXT TECHNOLOGY 4 PEST CONTROL
So you have a rodent problem? Your trap catches one of your unwelcome visitors. But how long is it before you notice? How long before your pest control company visits to remove the dead rodents and re-set the trap?
In the time it takes for the company to call, not only might you be faced with a nasty smell but your single visitor could have been just one of a number that have multiplied into an infestation because of the inactive, and ineffective, trap. In short, you now have an even bigger problem.

Now imagine if your trap could ‘talk’ to you, to let you know as soon as it had caught and humanely killed the rodent. Imagine if the trap then told your pest control company that it needed re-setting.
To good to be true? Not any more.
The traditional rodent trap has had a radical makeover thanks to Rentokil Pest Control. The world’s largest supplier of commercial pest management services recently unveiled ‘pestconnect’, a humane and intelligent method of dealing with rodent infestation.
Used alongside the company’s RADAR rodent trap, pestconnect provides continuous, up-to-date, on-line information on pest infestation.
Scott Fairhurst, Sales & Marketing Director, Rentokil Pest Control, explains how the system is set to revolutionise the industry: "The naturally inquisitive rodent enters the RADAR unit through one of two doors, stepping onto a pressure pad. The pad triggers the doors to close immediately, trapping it inside a tightly sealed chamber.
"Carbon Dioxide is then released into the chamber. The rodent will lose consciousness in under 10 seconds, and will die quickly and humanely in under a minute."
Not only is RADAR humane, it is also intelligent.
Fairhurst continues: "RADAR features Rentokil’s unique pestconnect technology, which will send an e-mail to our customer the moment a rodent has been caught and another to their local Rentokil Branch.
"It then sends a text message to a Rentokil technician alerting them to the activated trap. It tells them which customer needs their attention, which unit has been triggered, and even the precise location of the unit within the building.
"Pest control services traditionally rely on a trained technician to monitor for signs of pests and apply suitable control methods. The drawback is the gap between these visits, during which time, pests can establish themselves.
"Shorter gaps can be achieved by more frequent service visits, but this can be extremely costly. pestconnect checks each individual RADAR unit every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. That is the equivalent of having a Rentokil Technician visiting our customers over 52,560 times a year."
